What’s an Affirmative
Action Plan? Can I get away without doing one?
You’re rolling the dice with the feds if you’re
required to have an Affirmative Action Plan and
fail to file one. Any organization that has more
than 50 employees and receives more than $50,000
per year from federal contracts (or is a
sub-contractor for a company that meets these
criteria) must maintain an Affirmative Action
Plan as required by federal law. Basically an
AAP reports the demographic make-up of your
workforce compared to the relevant labor pool.
You must maintain and report detailed employee
data on minorities, women, disabled persons and
veterans employed in your workplace.
An AAP is
like a scientific analysis of your employees. It
begins with a statement verifying that your
organization is an Equal Opportunity
employer and ends with a detailed analysis of
the targeted classes of workers (women,
minorities, veterans and the disabled) currently
employed in your workplace.
How do I do an AAP?
Overwhelming, isn’t it? Preparing an AAP is
time-consuming and complicated. PMSI can prepare
your Affirmative Action Plan(s) for you
including
narratives, job force analysis, workforce
analysis, availability and utilization analysis,
basic salary analysis, goals and progress on
current goals. We’ll also coach one of your
employees on how to maintain a system for
managing applicant data. We make sure you comply
with the government’s requirements.
Your AAP will be prepared by a highly trained
and accredited HR professional(s). Our staff
members are all certified by the Society of
Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Human
Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
